I've done a number of budget renos..can paint them with an alkyd paint. Use trim molding on the tops and bottoms to give it more of a country feel. Legs American Oak (2)If you are truly industrious add dimension by buffering out and up some of the top cabinets to create a visual candy.
A far better look is to glue bead-board to them and trim in 1 x 3" boards. 2 upper cabinets routed out to accept a glass inset.
:) Once the upper cupboards were ripped out, we knew we were committed!
Throughout the entire process we tried to focus on making the most of what was already there, re-purposing items we already had, and sourcing out specific items we needed at thrift stores.
The previous curtains were my first attempt at sewing and it showed.
I even found a trio at the thrift store for a great price!
But once my husband helped me hang them on the wall, the shelves made the room look cluttered. All the ceramic pitchers I've been collecting over the last few years to display on said shelves are now being stored in the cabinets. *A huge thank-you to Beth @ Home Stories A2Z, Kristin @ My Uncommon Slice of Suburbia, Stephanie Lynn @ Under the Table and Dreaming, Home Dzine and Kristi @ Addicted to Decorating for featuring my kitchen on their blogs!
